The first episode of Kitchen Nightmares aired on May 22, 2007. It featured a restaurant called “Amy’s Baking Company” owned by Amy and Samy Bouzaglo. This was the third season premiere for this series, which is hosted by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The show follows restaurants around America that are in need of help with their food service and management practices to save them from closure. In this article we will discuss the best episodes from the first 101 episodes of Kitchen Nightmares! Episode 101: “Amy’s Baking Company” This episode starts with Amy and Samy yelling at the camera crew for filming them. They are mad that they have been waiting two days to film their restaurant, but Gordon Ramsay doesn’t show up until the third day. After finishing a tour of the kitchen and dining area, Ramsay sees a sign in one of their offices warning employees not to talk about any comments made by customers on Yelp or Facebook because it is an invasion of privacy. When he confronts Amy with this she says that every single bad review has come from one-star reviews. That means all those reviewers were lying! On top of being stubborn when learning how to improve her food service practices, she also refuses his offer of help. Towards the end of this episode, Ramsay returns to see if Amy has changed her mind about accepting his offer and she tells him that he is not invited back! She then proceeds to walk up into their office where you can hear them yelling at each other for a few minutes until they emerge with Samy telling Gordon “Get out!” This was one of my favorite episodes because it shows how stubbornness can be so detrimental when trying to fix your business practices. Even though Amy’s Baking Company was experiencing financial troubles before Kitchen Nightmares aired on May 22, 2007, I would still say that the show contributed heavily towards their closure in June 2014. The day after the first episode aired, Yelp reviews had been completely scrubbed
