I recently attended a recent training on self-awareness and the schuylkill trainings center in Lancaster County, New York. The instructor, who is a psychologist, had a very interesting discussion with his participants. He asked them to imagine that they were in a very small office. He then asked them to write down what they wanted to accomplish with their lives. He asked them to list what they wanted to accomplish in life. He then asked them to write down what they wanted to be.
After writing down what they wanted to be, he said to them, “You’re probably better off not knowing.” He said that they didn’t need to know now because this is a “self-awareness moment” and they will be able to change their lives as they learn to live. I think I felt the same as I listened to him talk about how we all become what we need to be in order to be happy.
I am not sure if they were just trying to make a statement, or if they were also hoping people would be like that, but I did feel like their point was very clear. To be honest, I could not help but think that they were probably right. The world we live in today is full of confusing and confusing information.
I know I can’t help but feel like we’re in a really dark and unclear time. To add to that, this is the same time where we’re seeing some very unsettling news reports on the news. The new normal is being a teenager, so it only makes sense that we are too.
This is actually a very common experience. Even in school, I think the majority of kids feel the same way. If you have a smartphone, you probably have a lot of friends who are kids, and it’s pretty common for them to feel like they don’t know what’s going on and why they’re being told the same things over and over again.
We’ve actually been seeing it on the news lately. One of the most disturbing things we’ve seen recently was a report that a 16-year-old girl named “Lissa” was stabbed multiple times by a group of people who were obviously high on something she shouldn’t have been drinking. This girl reportedly got in a car accident and was trying to drive home when she was stabbed so brutally that she died.
What the report doesn’t get is why anyone would be killing 16 year olds because they can’t drive, or if they can drive, they dont know how to drive and are clearly intoxicated. I think everyone can agree that the world is a horrible place and most of us are suffering from some form of mental illness, but this particular teen was clearly not on the road to recovery.
The report doesnt get why anyone would be killing 16 year olds, or even if it did, why anyone would be stabbing them so brutally, but it does make a good point. In the video, we see the girl being dragged away by her attacker. I don’t know about you but that is a horrific scene.
The girl was trying to protect her own life. While in the video she is trying to escape her attacker, but in real life she could have been trying to protect herself from the pain and terror of what she saw.
It seems like any good idea is now being tried and tested by the schuylkill community, at least when it comes to tackling juvenile violence. The Schuylkill Haven Academy, an educational center that provides education in a juvenile justice oriented setting, and the new schuylkill training and technology center, are two projects that have been a part of the schuylkill community for a long time.
