Editorial Guidelines

The rules every piece of content on this site follows before it publishes.

The rules every piece of content on Bright Start News follows before it publishes.

Before anything goes live

  1. Draft written to our plain-English standard — zero assumed prior knowledge, every term defined on first use.
  2. Edited for clarity, accuracy, and tone by a second pass, not just the original writer.
  3. Sources cited wherever an article reports something specific and checkable — a figure, a date, a filing, a named event — linked to the original document rather than to a search page. Explainers that describe how something works, rather than reporting a particular event, carry no citation because there is no specific claim to check.
  4. An “In Plain English” box added to every news story and explainer.
  5. A safety callout added wherever wallets, seed phrases, or money are discussed.
  6. A YMYL note added wherever prices or investment-adjacent content appears.
  7. Affiliate disclosure added wherever relevant links exist — and never on safety content.
  8. A pre-publish check that the writing reads as genuinely human, not AI-generated.
  9. Editor signoff before publication.

Core editorial rules

Beginner-first, jargon-free. Define every term. Explain “In Plain English.” Never assume prior knowledge.

Safety-first. Scam-awareness and “never share your seed phrase” throughout. Never ask for a wallet connection or keys.

No hype. No “get rich,” no guaranteed returns, no telling beginners what to buy.

Real authors, or clearly-labelled desk bylines. No copied identities, no “admin” bylines, and no byline presented as a person when it is not one. See The Desk.

Source claims; correct openly. Errors get fixed and logged publicly at Corrections, not quietly edited away. No paid coverage, ever.

On AI

Our editorial content is written by humans. We may use software tools for research or copyediting support, but the article prose you read is human-written, human-edited, and human-approved before it publishes.
