This is arithmetic, not a forecast. It tells you what a trade would have been worth at prices you typed in. It cannot tell you what any price will do next, and no one else can either. Not financial advice.
The break-even number is the useful one
Most people look at the profit figure. The one worth staring at is break-even: the price the coin has to reach before you have made a single penny, once fees on both the buy and the sell are accounted for. Because you pay a fee going in and another coming out, break-even is always slightly above what you paid. If your exchange charges 1% each way, the price has to rise roughly 2% before you are level.
That gap is why frequent trading quietly destroys beginner accounts. Every round trip starts you a little behind, and you have to be right often enough to climb out of that hole before you are ahead at all. Read the guides before you decide that trading is the game you want to play.
A note on tax
In many countries, selling crypto — and sometimes swapping one coin for another — is a taxable event, and the tax is owed on the gain whether or not you took the money out. This calculator does not model tax, because the rules differ everywhere and getting it wrong would be worse than not guessing. If you have made a gain, check your own country's rules or ask an accountant. We are a news and education site, not tax advisers.
