The Bright Start News Desk

The editorial desk behind every story on Bright Start News.

Bright Start News publishes under three standing bylines — Mei-Lin Toh, Robyn Alcaraz and Delia Frankowski. All three belong to the Bright Start News editorial desk: every article is written and edited by this desk, and the desk takes collective responsibility for what we publish.

What our bylines actually are

A standing byline is a section name, not a person. We use three, one for each part of the site: Mei-Lin Toh for explainers, Robyn Alcaraz for wallets, safety and scams, and Delia Frankowski for guides and first steps. None of them is a real individual. None has a photograph. We publish no Person profile for any of them, because there is no person to describe — the machine-readable author on every article is the desk itself, and you can check that in the page source.

They exist so you can tell at a glance which part of the site a piece comes from, not to suggest we employ more people than we do. If and when a real writer joins and wants to publish under their own name, with their own consent, we will introduce them properly — real credentials, a real photo, a real Person profile — and say plainly that they are a person.

What the desk does

Research and writing, plain-English editing, fact-checking against cited sources, and a final pre-publish check that every piece meets our own standard: zero assumed prior knowledge, every term defined, no hype, and a safety callout wherever wallets or money are involved. See the full process in Editorial Guidelines.

A promise

We will never present a byline as a real individual when it is not one, never use a copied identity, and never publish from a raw “admin” account. Our three standing bylines are labelled as desk bylines everywhere they appear — under the article, on the profile page, and in the file we publish for AI systems. If you ever have reason to doubt a byline on this site, tell us — we take that seriously.
