USDC price history
Past prices tell you what already happened. They are not a forecast, and crypto has no obligation to repeat itself.
What is USDC, simply?
USD Coin (USDC) is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, issued by Circle, a regulated financial technology company. Like other dollar-pegged stablecoins, one USDC is designed to always be worth close to one dollar, backed by cash and short-term US Treasury holdings that Circle publishes regular attestations about.
A simple way to picture it
USDC functions much like USDT — a digital dollar stand-in for moving value around crypto markets — but comes from a different issuer with its own separate reserve practices and regulatory relationships.
Should USDC be your first crypto?
Like other stablecoins, USDC is generally used as a stable holding tool rather than a speculative purchase. Its safety depends on trust in Circle's reserves and regulatory standing, which is generally considered relatively transparent within the stablecoin category, though "relatively transparent" is still not the same as risk-free.
If you do buy USDC, store it safely
Crypto left on an exchange is held by that exchange, not by you. For anything you would mind losing, move it to a wallet whose keys you control, and write the recovery phrase on paper — never in a photo, a notes app or an email. No exchange, wallet, support agent or website, including this one, will ever need your seed phrase. Anyone who asks for it is stealing from you.
USDC questions beginners ask
How is USDC different from USDT?
Both aim to hold a $1 peg, but they're issued by different companies (Circle for USDC, Tether for USDT) with different reserve reporting practices and regulatory relationships.
