What is Market Cap?

The short answer

A coin's price multiplied by how many coins exist — a rough measure of overall size.

Market cap is generally a more useful comparison between coins than raw price alone, since a low price per coin can simply mean a huge number of coins exist, not that the coin is “cheap.”
