What is Volatility?

The short answer

How much and how quickly a price moves, in either direction.

Crypto is known for high volatility compared to traditional markets — prices can move double-digit percentages in a single day. Volatility describes movement, not direction; a volatile coin can end up unchanged after a wild ride.
