What is Stellar, simply?
Stellar is a blockchain network focused specifically on fast, low-cost payments and currency exchange, with particular attention to cross-border transfers and financial access in regions with limited traditional banking infrastructure. XLM (sometimes called "Lumens") is its native currency.
A simple way to picture it
Stellar shares some conceptual DNA with XRP — both emphasise payment rails over general-purpose computing — though the two run on separate networks with different organisations behind them.
Should XLM be your first crypto?
Stellar's payments-and-financial-access focus gives it a specific real-world use case, but like every cryptocurrency, XLM's price is driven by broader market conditions and speculation as much as by that underlying utility.
